In the long process of geological evolution, Panjin area has experienced many crustal uplifts and downs, alternating changes of land and sea. The geological structure formed is mainly Quaternary diffusive strata with complete strata and large sedimentary thickness.
Panjin is located at the mouth of Liaohe River and the center of Liaohe River Delta. As a regression plain, it is made up of black soil, sandy soil and loess in the upper reaches of Daliao River, Liaohe River and Daling River, namely Jilin, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning and Hebei provinces. Its average altitude is 5.3 meters, and the lowest is only 0.3 meters above sea level. This formed a unique water-salt movement law in Panjin, and the serious soil alkali return was the main feature of water-salt movement in Panjin. Thus, the unique topsoil PH value of Panjin soil is 8.0-8.9, which is alkaline and saline-alkali on the surface of the soil. The lower layer has high viscosity, and the surface layer is not easy to penetrate. This kind of soil characteristics can be attributed to the formation of starch morphological and molecular structure, which is synthesized by glycoside bonds in rice growth.
The composition of soil is the composition of crops. After more than one hundred years of exploration and cultivation, the soil condition of Panjin is as follows: the land area of Panjin is 3.78 million mu. Among them, "paddy soil" covers a total area of 1.457 million mu, accounting for 37.2% of the total soil area (mainly distributed in the coastal plains of Panshan County, Dawa County and along the Liaohe River). Among them, 1386,000 mu of "saline paddy soil" accounts for 98.6% of the total amount of "paddy soil". Groundwater level is 0.3-1.6 m, water salinity is 1-20 g, PH value is 8.0-8.9, organic matter content is 1.0%-3.0%, total nitrogen is 0.055%-0.165%, total phosphorus is 0.49%-0.16%, total potassium is 2.15%-2.69%, fast phosphorus is 3-6 PPM, and fast potassium is 180-360 PPM. "Submerged paddy soil" covers an area of 197,000 mu, accounting for 1.4% of the total paddy soil area (distributed in the Dahuang, Gaosheng and Dawa counties of Panshan County, Xi'an and Dongfeng). Soil salinity is less than 0.1% of groundwater level of 1-2 meters, water salinity is at the bottom of 1 gram/liter, PH value is 8.0-8.9, organic matter content is 0.9% -3.05%, total nitrogen is 0.055% -0.224%, total phosphorus is 0.094% -0.102%, total potassium is 1.655% -2.58%, fast phosphorus is 3-6 PPM, and fast potassium is 60-180 PPM. The specific original ecology and improved soil conditions of Panjin provide basic conditions for the growth and breeding of Panjin rice and the formation of Panjin rice characteristics.
In the Mesozoic era, about 0.8 billion to 230 million years ago, due to the influence of Indosinian movement and Yanshanian movement, it rose to land in the early Mesozoic and was in a weathering and denudation environment. Since the mid-Mesozoic, many uplifting and falling movements have taken place in Panjin area, accompanied by volcanic eruption. The sedimentary environment is continental conglomerate, sandstone, shale, volcaniclastic rock and andesite between inland lakes and lakes and marshes.
After the Quaternary, the contour of the Lower Liaohe Plain changed frequently due to the influence of Himalayan movement. After the Middle Pleistocene, there were three times of submergence in the Lower Liaohe Plain. Therefore, three marine sedimentary strata and marine-continental interfacies strata are deposited in the present Daliaohe Estuary and Liaohe Estuary. In the later period, due to the continuous decline of plain, the rising and denudation of low hills on both sides of the East and west, the accumulation of terrigenous clastic materials to coastal estuaries, the southward movement of coastline, and the successive land formation of coastal beaches.
Since Mesozoic, a series of regional NE-trending and NNE-trending large faults have occurred, cutting the pre-Mesozoic paleostructures, forming a series of open and gentle fault depressions spreading in NE and NNE directions, presenting a new tectonic pattern of East-West zoning and North-South block.
Panjin is a Cenozoic sedimentary basin formed from the Yanshanian movement. After a long period of fluvial alluvial, diluvial, marine and aeolian deposits, it is continuously covered with deep Quaternary loose sediments with high salinity and alkali content. (Panjin Chronicle, Volume 352-356)
